Description:
Saying yes to a media interview can be one of the most valuable things you do for your brand, but only if you show up prepared. Too many great opportunities get wasted on answers that come back thin, vague, or clearly not written by the person whose name is on them.
In this solo episode of Grow Your Wellth, I walk you through the exact media training process we use with clients at FACTEUR PR, built around three phases: prep, practice, and analysis. Most of the real work lives in the prep, from researching the reporter and story angle to building a message with structure, support, and style. Along the way, I share six tips that make your answers quote-ready, including why you should never copy and paste from a press release or AI, which journalists are increasingly savvy at sniffing out.
From there, I get into why mock interviews and recording yourself are game changers, how to handle the nonverbal side of things like gestures, pauses, eye contact, and what to wear, and why the post-interview debrief is where “I should have” becomes “I will next time.” Because confidence doesn’t come from preparation alone, it comes from doing the reps.
Whether you’ve got a big interview on the calendar or you’re just starting to say yes to media, this episode will help you show up as the expert the journalist is hoping for, and the one I know you already are.
